SYDNEY HIGH SCHOOL, Head of the School medal, in silver (38mm), with ribbon suspender, obverse inscribed, 'High/School/Sydney/Labor Omnia Vicit (sic should be Vincit)', reverse inscribed, 'Head of the School/Rose Davies/December 1885'. Some toning, otherwise very fine and rare.

This medal was presented to Rose Davies by William Joseph Trickett, Minister for Public Instruction on 17 December 1885. W.J.Trickett was the son of Joseph Trickett, the civil engineer who supervised the construction of the Sydney Mint. He was mayor of Woollahra 1879-1881 and 1886-1888. He was also Minister for Public Instruction 1884-1885 and held various other important postings until his death in 1916.
