KINGS OF WESSEX, Aethelwulf, (839-858), phase II penny, issued c.843-c.848), Rochester Mint, moneyer Aethelhere, (1.25 g), obv. cross patt?e over cross patt?e saltire, within inner circle (10.5 mm), legend +EDELYYLE REX around, rev. cross with two limbs cross patt?e and two limbs cross moline, within inner circle (9.5 mm), legend +EDELERE around, (S.1046, N.607). Toned, slightly grainy surfaces very fine.
