MM GROUP OF FOUR: Military Medal (GVR); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 4036 Sapr A.Colbert. 4/F.Coy Aust: E: on first medal, 513 Pte A.Colbert 17/Bn. A.I.F. on second medal, 513 2/Cpl A.Colbert. 17 Bn. A.I.F. on last two medals. All medals impressed. Swing mounted, ribbons damaged and contact marks, otherwise very fine.

Together with a coloured portrait photo of Colbert in civilian attire and a unit group b&w photo; part ribands and damaged MM ribbon.
MM: LG 17/12/1917, p13197; CAG No 66 2/5/1918, p1036, to Sapper Alfred Colbert, 4 Field Coy, Aust Engineers.
Citation; Gallantry near Molenaareisthoek on 26th September 1917. He was one of a party detailed for laying communications for the Infantry during the attack. He went forward into the outpost line, and then laid tracks back to the battalion HQ, all under heavy shell and rifle fire. When finished he assisted further by carrying the wounded to the rear. (Noted for courage and cheerfulness in trying conditions.).

Note: Alfred colbert's brother, Sydney Colbert, was KIA 13Oct1917 at Broodseinde, Passchendaele, Belgium, serving with 45 Bn.
