BOIOTIA, Thebes, (395-338 B.C.), silver stater (11.06 g), Hism[e] magistrate, obv. Boiotian shield, rev. amphora in concave field, grapes on branch above, across field to left **H/S* and to right I/M, (cf.S.2398, BCD 519 [Triton IX p.98], Head 'Boeotia' -, Hepworth C No.55 on list). Bright, well centred, nearly extremely very fine and rare.

Ex CNG private sale, previously from BCD Colletion, November 11, 2001.
Hepworth believes from its rarity 6 to 20 examples known. Lot includes detailed collector's ticket.
