AEOLIS, Aegae, Messalina, Augusta, (A.D. 41-48), AE 17, (3.91 g), struck under Claudius, c.43-48 A.D., obv. draped bust of Messalina right, around **[CE]BACTH MECAL[EINA]*, rev. Zeus standing left, holding eagle and scepter, traces of **AIGAEION* to right, (S.-, RPC I 2430, SNG Copenhagen 23). Deeply toned, good fine and very rare.
