ABORIGINAL KING PLATE OR GORGET, c.1900s, inscribed to 'King Noah / Kooninga / Station', crescent shaped brass (155mm x 225mm), holed at each end for suspension on a chain. Inscription in filled with pitch. Very fine.

This breastplate was taken from Australia by a missionary and donated to a museum in England. After the closing down of the museum it was purchased by an antique dealer and sold to its present owner who returned with it to Australia.
