William (Bill) Seewitz of Victoria represented Australia as a boxer in the welter-weight division. Well known to Dandenong fight fans because of his frequent appearances at the Gippsland Boxing Championships, he was one of only two Australian boxers to reach the finals at the 1950 Empire Games in Auckland, New Zealand. In the semi-final he defeated A.Obeyesekere of Ceylon by TKO in the third round. However, he was beaten on points in the final by T.Ratcliffe of England.
