(WAIKATO), fob medal, 1925, handcrafted in voided gold (9ct, 6.0g, 28x23mm), no maker, scroll and ring top suspension, obverse inscribed 'Won By R.Smith/1925' reverse inscribed 'Presented By/S.A.McNamara'. Very fine.

It is understood that Ralph Smith was selected to play for the All Blacks around the time this medal was won. He turned down the offer as he believed that going 'professional' would ruin the game for him. He was also involved with many other sports including hockey.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
