BRASSEY FIELD FIRING & MARCHING COMPETITION MEDAL, (type 2), 1898-1901. Won by 2nd Batt Inf. B'gde 24 May, 1899 on reverse, Pte. J. Nevin around edge. Engraved. Toned, very fine.

John Nevin, clerk, born 1876 at South Melbourne, Vic; 01Jan to 30Jun1894, enlisted in Victoria Militia 21Jun1894 and then to C Coy 2Bn Infy Bde; various training with unit including musketry training and competed in Brassey competition for Queen's birthday in 1896 and again in May1899 at Kyneton; no tracking viable after re-organisation of units in 1902.
