CNUT, (1016-1035), silver cut half penny, quatrefoil type, Ilchester Mint, moneyer Oswig, (0.44 g), obv. crowned bust left within poorly defined quatrefoil, single band to crown with three trefoils above, legend +CNVT REX [...] around begins at 11 o'clock, rev. long cross voided on quatrefoil with pellet at apex of each cusp, each limb terminating in three crescents, dividing legend + OS_IE [....] around, (S.1157, N.781, BMC viii). Cleaned, very fine and scarce.
