In plastic case of issue, uncirculated.
Opened on 8 April 1994, this was the first bridge across the lower Mekong and the second on the full course of the Mekong River. The construction was funded by the Australian government as a development aid for Laos. It was designed and built by Australian companies. At the opening ceremony on 8 April 1994 the leaders presiding were Nuhak Phumsawan, the President of Lao PDR, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand and Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating. The bridge then opened for use on 23 April 1994. The above medal is attributed to John McLean ASC (Australian Cinematographers Society) who was cameraman for the Australian contingent that built the bridge.
