QUEEN'S SOUTH AFRICA MEDAL 1899, (type 3 reverse), - three clasps - Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal. 3098 Tpr: W. Newlands. (sic, actually Newland) N.S.Wales I.B. Impressed. Second clasp secured by wire at one side, hairlines, otherwise toned good very fine.

Ex Sid Thurgar Collection.
W. Newland confirmed as serving as a Private with NSW Imperial Bushmen. He died of enteric at Zeerust, North West Province on 10Jul1901 and was buried at Zeerust cemetery.
With research and a manufactured poppy as displayed on the Boer War Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra.
