Eric Robert Howard Magnusson, seaman, born 19Jan1895 at Whakataki, Manawatu-Wanganui, North Island, NZ; volunteered for service in Australian Naval Force 08Jun1911; commenced engagement in Royal Navy on 19Jan1913 serving as Boy 2nd Cl on H.M.S.Pioneer.
Only 77 men for the Australian Naval Force are recorded on the Great War Medal rolls. All these men were engaged in the Royal Navy under the terms of the Naval Agreement of 1903. When the Royal Australian Navy was established in 1913 the Australian Naval Force became defunct.
