FAMILY GROUP. Father. Trio: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. Son. Trio: 1939-45 Star; Pacific Star; War Medal 1939-45. 125 Pte R.D.McAlpine 1/F Amb A.I.F. on first trio. Impressed. QX 20732 D.R.McAlpin on second trio, 1939-45 Star and Pacific Star engraved, last medal impressed. First trio mounted for wear, very fine.

Father - Ronald David McAlpine, warehouseman, age 19, born Petersham NSW. Served in 40th Australian Army Medical Corps Company (part time militia). Enl. 24Aug1914 in A.I.F.; Emb. 20Oct1914 Sydney for Middle East with 1st Field Ambulance, 1st Brigade, 1st Division as stretcher bearer; Operations Gallipoli from 25Apr1915 with Stretcher Bearer Section at Anzac Cove, Shrapnel Valley and Maclaurens Hill; evacuated to Hospital Ship 10Jul1915 then to England 28Aug1915; RTA 17Mar1916; Disch. 13Oct1916 as medically unfit.
Awarded last two medals in 1941 and Anzac medallion in 1967.
Together with Gallipoli medallion lapel badge named to R.D.McAlpine, Returned from Active Service lapel badge engraved to R.D.McAlpin, WWI Rising Sun cap badge, 'Australia' shoulder titles (2), photographs and newspaper clippings.
Son - Daryl Robson McAlpin (note difference in spelling), photographer, age 21, born 25Feb1919 in Sydney; Enl. 18Jan1941; Emb. 07Apr1941 Sydney; Served in Middle East 07Apr1941 to 10Mar1942; New Guinea 18Dec1943 to 19Feb1945; Bougainville 18Apr1945 to 02Jun1945; Disch. 18Mar1946.
With research including copy of Statutory declaration dated 11May1976 stating he had lost his medals amongst other personal effects.
