MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.52 g), Sardes Mint, issued c.319-315 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, hair flowing and snake on helmet, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, in left field H**D* monogram, k in circle below, to right **ALEXANDPOU*, (cf.S.6702, Price 2675, M.770). Struck on a large flan, a few edge knocks, good very fine - nearly extremely fine.
