ITALY, Lucania, Heraclea, (330-280 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (7.86 g), obv. head of Athena to right wearing crested Corinthian helmet adorned with a Scylla, K behind helmet, I-HPAK**LHIWN* to right, rev. Heracles standing facing, in left field above club a one-handled pot, holding club in right hand and lion's skin over left arm, to left A**QE*, to right I-HPAK**LHIWN*, (S.391, Work 83, Van Keuren 85, SNG Ash. 630 [same dies]). Toned, extremely fine and a very rare type.
