SICILY, Syracuse, reign of Hieron II, (275-215 B.C.), AE 26, (18.86 g), obv. diademed head of Hieron beardless to left, rev. horseman prancing to right, holding spear couched, beneath [N], in exergue of IEP**WNOS*, (S.1221, SNG ANS 936-9, SNG Cop.838, Calciati 195 [Rev.22], BMC 588, HGC 2, 1548). Dark-green patination, good very fine - nearly extremely fine and scarce.
