ATTICA, Athens, (c.454-404 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.22 g), obv. head of Athena to right wearing ivy crested helmet, eye front, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, olive twig and crescent behind, to right, **AQE, all in incuse square, (S.2526, Kroll 8, BMC 62, SNG Cop 31, Kroll 8, SNG Gulbenkian 519-21, HGC 4, 1597). Attractively toned, extremely fine, perfectly centred, a well engraved head struck in high relief with a pleasing archaic smile and much crest showing, rare in this condition.
