FAUSTINA JUNIOR, wife of Marcus Aurelius, (d.A.D. 175), silver denarius, issued after 176, (3.22 g), obv. around DIVAE FAVSTINAE PIAE, draped bust to right of Faustina, rev. MATER CASTRORVM, Faustina seated left on low seat, holding scepter & globe surmounted by phoenix with radiate nimbus, 2 legionary eagles set on low base before, (S.5220, RSC 161, RIC 753). Toning, surface scratches, otherwise very fine and a very rare type.
