PROBUS, (A.D. 276-282), antoninianus, Rome Mint, (3.97 g), issued 278-279, obv. radiate cuirassed bust left, around IMP PROBVS AVG, rev. around VIRTVS AVG, Virtus standing front, head to left, holding spear in her left hand and placing right hand on shield set on ground, R*E in exergue, (cf.S.12059, cf.RIC 239, Venera 893). Lightly toned, nearly extremely fine with good silvering and a very rare type.
