KIA-ORA NZ, undated, in silver (27mm) (Morel K/1), no maker, ring top suspension, reverse inscribed 'Tobruk/No.11991/R.W.Wilkinson/7.3.41'; also a patriotic badge in bronze (31x19mm), no maker, pin-back, features a Kiwi facing right and inside a wish bone. Very fine, the first rare. (2)
Morel rates the above medal as R5 (Rare, 11 to 25 known).^^Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 119 (lot 3646).^^Reginald Winsden Wilkinson, farmer of Opuawhanga, enlisted in 2NZEF at Whangarei, Northland, embarked as a Private with 6th Field Ambulance, NZ Medical Corps. The 6th Field Ambulance was at Tobruk in 1941 and then El Alamein in 1942 before taking part in the Italian Campaign from 1943.
