THE SHORTHORN SOCIETY OF NEW ZEALAND, Awarded For Champion Shorthorn Bull, large bronze plaque (160cm) with bull's head in relief, mounted on a circular timber plaque (202cm), with pierced hole at top for hanging, attached below the bronze plaque is a small bronze plate inscribed 'R.J.Low's/Lincoln Fiat 4346/Ashburton/1921'. Toned, a few small chips in timber plaque, otherwise good very fine.

R.J.Low was a cattle breeder from Highbank, Methven, 35kms from Ashburton. The above plaque was won at the Christchurch Show with R.J.Low being one of the exhibitors representing the Ashburton district. ^^The plaque was donated by The Shorthorn Society of New Zealand which had only changed to this name in August 1921, previously named New Zealand Shorthorn Cattle Breeders' Association. It allocated 14 shields for the champion bulls in that season and these were allotted to the following shows, Hamilton, Manawatu, Carterton, Gisborne, Whangarei, Napier, Wanganui, Christchurch, Ellesmere, Dunedin, Invercargill, Timaru, Ashburton, and Gore.
