SOUTHLAND A. & P.A., stock medal, uniface, struck in silver (51mm), by J.Moore.F., reverse inscribed Presented/To/R.Grieve./By The/Southland A.&P.A./Champion Prize/In/Leicester Ram Class/1885'; another similar but slightly different design, stuck in silver (51mm), by J.Moore.F./J & J.Williams.Bristol, reverse inscribed 'Presented/To/R.Grieve./By The/Southland A & P.A./Champion Prize/In/Leicester Ewe 1Class/1885'. Both with hairlines and small dig marks as well as a few edge marks, otherwise very fine and very rare with design variations for a medal awarded at same show.
The Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Association Show was held at Invercargill on 10-11 December 1885. Mr R.Grieve took most of the prizes for Leicesters which were awarded on the first day.
