(Cecil M.Bay, Wellington) pin-back, obverse inscribed '2/2567'; (Father) The Justices Association Of Otago N.Z., uniface fob badge in gold and enamel (9ct, 6.66g, 24mm), no maker, scroll and ring top suspension, reverse inscribed 'Alex.Goodley/21-6-1897.', in case; Master Grocers Federation New Zealand, uniface fob badge in gold and enamel (9ct, 12.39g, 31.5mm), by W.J.D (William J.Dunlop, Christchurch), ring top suspension, reverse inscribed 'A.Goodley/1927-28.'. William Storrie Goodley was born at Shag Point, Waitaki in 1896, the son of Alexander Goodley and Jane nee Clarke. He enlisted on 17 November 1915 and joined the Field Artillery. He was appointed a temporary Corporal in January 1917 but three months later he reverted to Gunner at his own request. He served in Egypt, France and Belgium and was discharged on 6 June 1919. After war service he became a grocer in Dunedin where he died in 1967.^^Alexander Goodley was born in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, Scotland. He came to New Zealand and in 1886 married Jane Clarke at Shag Point, Otago. They had seven sons, including William Storrie Goodley. During his working life he was a storeman or a grocer, firstly in Shag Point in the 1880s and 90s and then at Arrowtown in the Otago region. In 1927-28 he was president of the Master Grocers' Association. He died at Dunedin in 1941.
