D BATTERY NZA, uniface voided badge, handcrafted in silver (54x46mm), by Langdon (double struck), (H.Langdon, Wellington), two securing lugs on reverse, obverse inscribed, 'D. Battery NZA/Pres/by/Capt. St Hill/1911'. Very fine and rare.

This badge was donated annually by Capt St Hill from about 1896. It is noted that Captain George St Hill, mentioned for bravery in the relief of Abercorn was also in the force that relieved Hartley during the campaign in the Cape during the Rhodesian Rebellion of 1896 and thereby rescued ten prisoners that had been held in the laager for over one month.
