WAIKAKA VALLEY AND BENIO, handcrafted in gold (15ct, approx 7g, 27.5x39mm), no maker, ring top suspension, reverse inscribed 'Presented/To/Pvte P.D.Kerr/26th Rein./By Waikaka Valley/& Benio Residents/1919', attached as a fob to a 14ct gold plated pocket watch chain. The fob heavily toned, otherwise very fine, the chain fine.

47275 Pte Duncan Kerr, 26th Reinforcements, Otago Infantry Regiment, D Coy, NZEF, embarked from New Zealand 9 June 1917.^^Note: Naming on above medal is P.D.Kerr and is reported below as P.D.Kerr but enlistment papers show name as Duncan Kerr which is the same as his father's name.^^A welcome home reception, organised by the Medal Presentation Committee, was held in the form of a picnic at Mr James Aitken's farm at Waikaka Valley on Wednesday 28 May 1919. Medals subscribed for by residents of Waikaka Valley and Benio were presented by Mr G.J.Anderson MP. Medals were presented to the next-of-kin of those who fell in action, namely L/Cpl S.A.Aitken MM, Cpl A.G.Johnston, Cpl F.J.Nicholson, Pte J.S.Johnston, Pte W.N.McIntyre, Pte R.E.Wright, Pte R.H.McPhail and Pte S.Struthers.^^The returning soldiers to receive medals which were pinned on their breasts by Misses Robina and Evelyn Aitken were as follows, Mr A.B.Johnston MC, Sgt H.P.McIntyre MM, Capt D.R.McIntyre MM, Capt A.J.France, Mr C.H.S.Johnston, Farrier Sgt E.Martin, Sgt W.T.Nichol, Cpl R.Nichol, Pte B.J.McGrath, Pte John Howden, Pte S.Nicholson, Pte P.D.Kerr, Pte Adam R.Dynes, Pte J.N.Waddell, Tpr A.Nichol, Pte R.E.Dynes and Pte Robert Dynes.
