AUROA, handcrafted in gold (9ct, 6.94g, 27x27mm), no maker, ring top suspension and attached to pin-back bar, obverse centre with details in relief '2nd/NZEF/1945', reverse inscribed 'Auroa/Sister - E.Sandford/Services - Rendered/1939 -'. Very fine and rare to a nurse.

38179 Staff Nurse Gladys Anne Sandford 'Sandy' NZ Army Nursing Service 2NZEF, served at 1 NZ General Hospital; NZ Medical Corps 3 NZ General Hospital in Italy; and 4 NZ Rest Home. Died 23 June 2002 at Howick, Manukau City and cremated at Manukau Memorial Gardens, Papatoetoe Cemetery.
