KAITANGATA RIFLES, Hislop Medal handcrafted in silver (34x33mm), by Hislop (John Hislop, Dunedin), ring top suspension, obverse inscribed 'K/R/Presented/By/J.Hislop', reverse inscribed 'Won/By/Vol. J.Robertson/Score 154/Shots 45/Ranges/200 To 600 Yds/1887'; Hislop's Medal hand engraved in silver (28x42mm), no maker but hallmarked for Birmingham 1874, reverse inscribed 'Won By/Corp. J.Robertson/K.R./10/2/94'; prize medal struck and handcrafted in gold (9ct, 7.82g, 23.5x34mm), no maker, ring top suspension, obverse inscribed 'Presented To/the/Waihao Downs/Rifle Club/L.Mathias Esq.', reverse inscribed 'Won by/Rifleman/J.Robertson/1907'; also a beautifully engraved, silver plated chalice-style cup (diam 9.3cm, ht 22cm), features various indigenous floral decorations on the cup and inscribed on one side 'K.R./For/Drill Attendance/& Class Firing/Won By/Vol. Jas. Robertson/Score 132 Drill Pts. 10/1887'. The first two medals toned, otherwise very fine and rare. (4)
