NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT, Best Shot in District, struck in silver and then handcrafted (35x54 including suspender), by Kohn & Co (Wellington), with die struck suspender (no ribbon), reverse inscribed 'Won By/No 22/Private John Keller/Kumara Rifle Volrs/Best Shot/Westland District/1893./91 Points (O&D.132). Scratches in bottom right obverse field, otherwise very fine and rare.

As well as winning this medal, the newly promoted Sergeant John Keller of Kumara Rifles also won the Government gold medal for being best shot in the South Island in 1894 with a score of 92 points.^^With research.
