(NO.2 Victoria Rifles), 1900, handcrafted fob medal in gold (9ct, 12.06g, 36x46mm), by A.G.B (?), ring top suspension, obverse inscribed 'PSS', reverse inscribed 'Presented/by/Capt. Abbott/won by/Corp P.S.Sherratt/14.7.00'. Very fine.

This shooting competition took place at the Mt. Eden Rifle Range on Saturday afternoon, 14 July 1900, between members of the No.2 Company Victoria Rifles for two medals presented by their late Commander, Captain F.W.Abbott, before his departure for South Africa. The weather was not favourable, the wind being very blustery and light bad. Corpl, Sherratt's winning score was 22 (300 yds), 22 (500 yds), 21 (600 yds) for a total of 65, five in front of the second place-getter.
