L.R.C. (Levuka Rifle Club), fob medal, handcrafted in voided gold (15ct, 29.5x38mm), with chain attached at each side and with two decorated clasps and a fob clip (marked 9ct) (tot wt 18.02g), no maker, reverse inscribed 'L.R.C./Presented by/J.Warbrooke./For Snapshotting (sic)/1910. Won By./J.P.Hjorring'. Chain loop needs refitting on one side, otherwise very fine.

J.P.Hjorring was the Mayor of Levuka Municipality. The medal presenter, Mr J.Warbrooke, was a long-time resident of Fiji having arrived at the Colony in 1873 as a drill sergeant instructor under the Government of King Cakobau. He then carried on a wheelwright business in Levuka for over 60 years. He died at Levuka Hospital on 12 May 1936 at the age of 85.
