STRATFORD, voided fob medal, in silver with gold (24x32mm), By J&RG (J & R Griffin) hallmarked for Chester 1906, ring top suspension, obverse inscribed 'LL', reverse inscribed '1st/Boys Swimming/Stratford/1911'. Very fine.

Stratford is the only town in the Stratford District and the seat of the Taranaki Region in New Zealand's North Island. The Stratford Carnival organised by the Stratford Swimming Club in February 1911 was of a high order. L.Lewis won the 50 yds Boy's Race (16 Years and under) Final. The result was L.Lewis 1, C.Kivell 2, E.Robson 3, time 17 2-5sec.^^See also lot E6340.
