AUCKLAND GENERAL HOSPITAL, 1911, Honours medal, struck and engraved in voided gold (15ct, 9.64g, 26x26mm), by W Co. OIAN (?), bar with pin-back suspension, obverse inscribed 'MVM', reverse inscribed 'Mildred V.Mueller'. Extremely fine.

This medal was awarded to nurses who passed with honours in the examinations conducted at Auckland Hospital by the Health Department. In 1911 Nurse Mildred Miller was the first ever nurse to win the gold medal at Auckland Hospital. She was present at the 20th annual presentation event in September 1930 and was acknowledged as the first gold medal winner by Mr W.Wallace, Chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board.^^With research.
