William Ferguson Massey (1856-1925) was Prime Minister of New Zealand 1912-1925.^^The following courtesy National Library of New Zealand - Papers Past, from Evening Post, 7 August 1939.^^The death occurred in Wellington yesterday of Captain Edwin Fewings Squire, a highly-esteemed member of the New Zealand Corps of Commissionaires. Mr. Squire, who had been in poor health for some considerable time, collapsed on the pavement at the corner of Ballance Street and Lambton Quay at 12.25 p.m. yesterday and died shortly afterwards.^^The late Mr. Squire was born in Pilton, Devon, and came to New Zealand with his wife and family of two sons fifteen years ago. He served in the Great War and rose to the rank of captain. He was a great enthusiast in Old Contemptible Association activities in Wellington, was a member of the United Services' Club, and a member of the Masonic craft. Until, a few months ago when ill-health necessitated his retiring, he was stationed as a uniformed commissionaire at the Union Steam Ship Company's office in Wellington for the purpose of assisting those wishing to travel by air. In this manner he became very well known to a large section of the community. The late Mr. Squire's wife died a few years ago, one son is farming in the North Island, and another son is in South Africa.^^The funeral will be held tomorrow morning, and members of the New Zealand Corps of Commissionaires will attend.
