DRUID'S GALA, ChCh (Christchurch), 1888, struck and hand engraved in silver (30x33mm), by W.J.D (William J.Dunlop, Christchurch), ring top suspension (ring broken off), reverse inscribed '5 Men Manual/won by/J.Kirk/time/44/2/5 Sec.'. Inscription worn, hence very good but rare.

The Druid's Gala was held in December 1888 at the New Show Grounds after a lively procession through the streets of Christchurch after starting from Latimer Square. This medal was awarded for Event.11, the Five-Man Manual Engine Drill - First prize, five silver medals; second, five valuable lockets.
