WAIKATO CALEDONIAN SPORTS AND SOCIAL SOCIETY, Keenan Cup, (1922), handcrafted in sterling silver (.925, 0.245kg, 17.4cm high x 9.4cm cup diameter), hallmarked for London 1861 by HH (Henry Holland of Holland, Aldwinkle & Slater), elaborate floral decorated, at the top edge inscribed on one side 'KEENAN CUP' and on the opposite side 'Won by Iris Hodd./3-1-22', and in the middle of the front side on a layer of silver coating is inscribed 'Presented/To/Waikato Caledonian Sports/and Social Society/by W.M.Keenan Esq./For Societys Pupils/Highland Fling'. Heavily toned, otherwise nearly very fine.

The Hamilton Athletic Club, in conjunction with the Waikato Caledonian Society, held a sports gathering at the Claudelands Racecourse at Hamilton on 3 January 1922. In the Caledonian events Iris Hodd came first in the Girls' Society Pupil Highland Fling, third in the Highland Fling Open and third in the Girls over 15 Sword Dance. ^^The cup donor, Mr W.M.Keenan, had been the Honorary Secretary of the Waikato Caledonian Sports and Social Society for many years, announcing his resignation from the position at the annual meeting held in November 1920.^^With research.
