A.L (AUCKLAND LIEDERTAFEL), voided badge/fob handcrafted in gold 15ct, 7.78g, 24x35mm), with two diamonds (each 10pt) set in obverse design as well as the numbers 50 and 45, by W Coltman (Auckland), ring top suspension and pin-back, reverse inscribed 'Syd.J.Harbutt/15 Years Service/1895/1911'. Extremely fine and rare.

^Sydney J.Harbutt was educated at the Auckland College and Grammar School and after entered the business of his father, Thomas J.Harbutt. He joined the Liedertafel in 1896 and in 1901 he was appointed secretary of the Auckland Liedertafel, a musical society inaugurated in July 1892 that gave solo and choral performances at concerts at various venues. Its members performed at the reception given to Rear Admiral Sperry, commanding the visiting American Fleet in 1908.
