BALCLUTHA AGENTS, 1911, tribute fob, handcrafted in gold (9ct, 9.50g, 25mm), by O.&T.Y (?), scroll and ring top suspension, obverse inscribed with monogram 'SW', reverse inscribed 'Presented/To/S.Wright Esq./by the/Balclutha Agents./29.4.11.' Good very fine.

^The following part article courtesy National Library of New Zealand - Papers Past - from 'The Clutha Leader' 2 May 1911.^^AGENTS FAREWELL^Some 20 of those engaged in the agency business in Balclutha assembled at Mr P. C. Hislop's offices on Saturday evening for the purpose of farewelling Mr Sinclair Wright on the eve of his departure from amongst them to enter into possession of a small grazing run at Teviot, and also to present him with a parting token of esteem and regard from his old confreres. The gift took the form of a handsome and massive gold chain and pendant, the latter bearing the monogram "S.W.", and being inscribed: "Presented to S. Wright, Fsq., by the Balclutha agents, 29/4/11."^^Mr Thos. McDonald, who shares with Mr Wright the honour of being the oldest local agent, and who is the local representative of the Stock Agents' Association, presided, and made the presentation. He said they were met to say good-bye to their old friend who was leaving them as an agent, but who, the speaker hoped, would come back and see them occasionally. He had known Mr Wright a very long time, and was very sorry he was going away. Mr Wright got on very well with his brother agents, and on many occasions when going out with a buyer would oblige them by showing stock that were in another agent's hands, thus saving trips and sometimes enabling the other agent to do business when he did not succeed in doing it himself. Mr Wright was now leaving the worry of an agent's life and going in for an easier life. The speaker wished him happiness and success, and hoped he would be long spared to wear their present.'
