NATIONAL PARKS AUTHORITY. (c1952), Ranger badge No.143 (impressed), in copper (34.5x44mm), by Mayer & Kean Ltd, Wellington, pin-back. Two small pierced holes at base of centrepiece, much mint red, extremely fine.

In 1952 the National Parks Act was passed to repeal legislation affecting existing national parks and brought them all under the new Act and also established the National Parks Authority, representing private organisations and Government Departments with interests in the parks, to exercise general control.
