N.Z. Perpetual Forests was formed in 1923 to establish soft-wood forests in New Zealand and maintain them for periods of up to 20 years. Over a period of 12 years from 1925 to 1936 inclusive, the company planted over 170,000 acres excluding large areas represented by roads and divisional breaks. It became New Zealand Forest Products after that company had been formed in 1935 to make the take-over.
