(THEATRE ROYAL), bar brooch in gold (10ct; 2.82g, 46x8mm), by G.T.W (G.T.White, Wellington & Christchurch), pin-back, obverse inscribed 'Sweet Lavender/1901'. Very fine.

Sweet Lavender was the title of a comedy play performed by members of the Christchurch Amateur Dramatic Club at the Theatre Royal in June 1901. Miss Nina Parsons gave a natural and charming portrayal of the playwright, Arthur Wing Pinero's lead character of Lavender Rolt and the complications and dramas surrounding her romantic involvement with Clement Hale, played by Charles Hobbs.^^With research.
