WELLINGTON BOWLING CENTRE N.Z., fob medal with 10 Centre Certifs. scroll, struck in gold and enamel (9ct, 17.53g, 32x36mm), no maker, scroll and ring top suspension, reverse inscribed 'Awarded to/R.Cometti./Winner of/Five Centre/Certificates.'. Nearly extremely fine.
R.Cometti was selected in the Dominion Test Team to play against Australia in 1928. In 1929 it was reported that R.Cometti, playing for the Hataitai Bowling Club, was the most successful player in Wellington Bowling Centre tournaments having been in the winning team no fewer than four times. Cometti was said to be a stylish player and had every shot in a bowler's kit. He was also one of Wellington's champion of champions bowling fours, all from the Hataitai Bowling Club.^^In 1939 R.Cometti had established a record of ten wins in competitions conducted by the Wellington Bowling Centre and thus the centre committee agreed that he should be awarded a bar to the medal given to him by the centre when he won his first five championships.
