N.Z.A.A.A. (New Zealand Amateur Athletics Association), CC (Canterbury Centre), Belgium Fund Carnival, 1915, struck medal in silvered (?) (30mm), no maker, ring top suspension, reverse inscribed 'Reel O Tulloch/1st/J.A.Fraser/1915' (M&P. unlisted). Nearly very fine.

This Belgium Fund Carnival was held under the auspices of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletics Association. The event was staged at Caster Park in Christchurch on Saturday 27 February 1915 and included a Citizens' Defence Corps parade, athletics events, tug-of-war, Caledonian events, and Open to Defence Force events. J.A.Fraser won the Reel o'Tulloch (adults) event in the Caledonian section. Normally gold and silver prize medals were issued by N.Z.A.A.A. but instead the above basic medal was awarded for all events so as to have more money available to donate to the Belgian Relief Fund established to aid Belgian refugees fleeing their country following its occupation by Germany during WWI.
