MAKARETU SPORTS CLUB, hand engraved medal in silver (25.5mm), by W.A (William Adams Ltd), hallmark for Birmingham 1924, ring top suspension, obverse inscribed 'Makaretu/Sports Club'. Toned, good very fine.

Makaretu at Hawke's Bay, New Zealand was, according to Maori legend, the settling place of the first Maoris who came to New Zealand.
