CATHOLIC BAZAAR, Tug of War, 1912, fob medal, hand engraved in gold (9ct, 6.51g, 29.5x29.5mm), no maker, ring top suspension, reverse inscribed 'Won By/Gillespie's Team/C.Campbell'. Good very fine.

The following courtesy National Library of New Zealand - Papers Past - from the Timaru Herald 9 July 1912: 'The tug-of-war last evening between Gillespie's and the Drainage teams proved a very strenuous contest. The pull lasted the full time allowed (10 minutes), when it was found that Gillespie's team held an advantage of two inches of rope and were thus proclaimed the victors.'^^See also lot E7441 to same recipient.
