WAIAU RACING CLUB, sterling silver cup (15.9cm high x 7.9cm wide), hallmarked for Birmingham 1927 by maker 'D&F' (Deakin & Francis Ltd, Birmingham), one side inscribed 'Waiau Racing Club/Highfield Trot/Presented by/Chas Garrigan/1930'. Small dent, heavy irregular toning and a small section with oxidation, otherwise very fine.
The annual race meeting of Waiau Racing Club was held at Fulton Park, Waiau on 3 January 1930. The Highland Trot event was won by B.J.Mackie's Lomar, aged 5 years. After all events were completed the various cups were presented by the local member of parliament, the Hon. Mr G.W.Forbes MP.
