PROPELLING PENCIL, with separate lever for a propelling dip pen and at the top is an agate seal (length 9cm; tested as more than 14ct and less than 18ct so probably 15ct; tot wt 16.35g)), the unit made by S. (ampson) Mordan & Co, on one side is inscribed, 'J.A.D. from The Honble Mrs Westenra, 1878', in a leather case by West & Son, College Green, Dublin with the initials, 'J.A.D.' on the lid. Good very fine.

The Honourable Mrs Westenra was born Anne Daubuz on 12 April 1808. On 23 July 1842 she became the second wife of Lieutenant-Colonel John Craven Westenra of the Scots Fusilier Guards, third son of Warner William Westenra, 2nd Baron of Rossmore of Monaghan. Her husband was the Member of Parliament for King's County (Offaly) in Ireland from 1837 to 1852. The Honourable Anne Westenra died on 5 July 1882 in Ireland. Perhaps J.A.D. is a member of the Daubuz family.
