IRELAND, Hiberno-Norse issue penny, Phase III, c.1035-1060, obv. crude bust to left, blundered legend, two pellets behind neck, rev. long cross type similar to that of Aethelred II, with two crude hands in opposite angles and a pellet in each corner, (S.6129A, cf.SCBI Ulster 261, cf.SCBI BM [1966], Nos.114/106, cf.SCBI Copenhagen 220, cf.Spink 'Viking' Sale March 14, 2001 lot 1119). Extremely fine and very rare.
