PELOPONNESOS, Achaean League, Aigeira (Achaia) mint, (c.167-30 B.C.), silver hemidrachm, (2.23 g), obv. laureate head of Zeus to right, rev. large XA monogram in laurel wreath, N I across, above forepart of a goat to right, (cf.S.2971, Benner 18, Clerk 26/14, BMC 20, SNG Cop.-). Good very fine, rare.

Ex Diakofto hoard (on the west coast c.20km. East of Aegium, Achaea), found 1965 (ICGH 262), which contained 1601 Achaean League coins, detail of each coin is on file with the British Museum, coin acquired from Spink & Son (who acquired the hoard), December 18, 1992. Coin in a flip containing detailed collector's ticket.
