SYRIA, Kingdom of, Seleukos I Nikator, (312-281 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.16 g), Seleukeia on the Tigris Mint first workshop, struck c.300-281 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress, dotted border, rev. Zeus Aetophoros seated left, holding eagle and sceptre, in left field HMP monogram, BE under throne, to right **SELEUKOU*, below in exergue **BASILE[WS]*, dotted border, (cf.S.6829. SC 119.1b variant, cf.ESM 14, HGC 9, 12). Toned, good very fine, very rare.
